Welcome to the Cranfield University Student Switch Off campaign – your chance to win prizes for yourself and a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream delivery or BBQ for your residence, all for doing easy things to save energy and protect the environment.
Ben & Jerry’s or BBQ for my residence?
Yep! All the halls (Lanchester, Chilver, Stringfellow, Fedden, Mitchell) at Cranfield compete to save energy and at the end of the year the hall that saved the most energy will win a BBQ party. Lanchester, Chilver and Stringfellow have shared kitchens so will also have their recycling checked and scored 3 times over the year. The hall that recycles the best gets a free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream giveaway!
There is a separate competition for the shared Houses. The group of houses that save the most energy will win a BBQ party, joint with the winning hall. The houses are grouped into roads as listed below:
The Drive: Houses 1-8
West Road: Houses 3,4,6,7,9,10
Prince Philip Avenue: Houses 19-22
Reynolds Close: Houses 2,5,8
The Crescent: Houses 11,19,21
Henson Close: House 8
If your house is not listed, this is because we do not currently have precise energy data.
Interesting, how can I win stuff?
To help your hall or house win just save energy and recycle where possible over the year by following our simple energy-saving tips. We also give away individual prizes over the year such as Ben & Jerry’s (big tubs!) and Totum cards (powered by NUS extra). These are given out to students who get involved in our photo competitions that run every 2-3 weeks.
